Colorado vs. Colorado State – Match Preview – NCAA
To open up the season, the Colorado Buffaloes will take on the Colorado State Rams. These two teams (especially Colorado) have been dangerous teams and they have historically been fairly successful. In 2009, this was certainly not the case.
More than 3 games on the season, neither of these two teams managed to win. These programs still keep their fans happy and they cannot afford to have another season like this.
Last season, the Buffaloes managed a decent offense at least. Their passing game was the focal point of the offense. The passing game was the best aspect of any part of their team and it was ranked within the top 50. Unfortunately, on the ground and on defense, they simply could not get it done. In 2009, this Colorado team managed less than 100 yards per game and surrendered nearly 29 points a game. Next season, the Buffaloes will need to pick up their rushing game to turn things around. They may be able to better control the clock and take the pressure off the defense, if they can improve their rushing game.
Colorado State struggled defensively just like the Buffaloes, although they had a more balanced offensive attack. While scoring just under 22 points per game, the Rams gave up nearly 30 points per game. If the team hope to succeed, they simply cannot put up with this.
As these two in-state rivals square off to kick off the 2010 college football season, this game should be a good one to get everyone fired up
